JACQUES 2008 USA TOUR

                                                                              Introduction

Hi to all our families and friends. Just a little history about us and how we have come to this point in our relationship. Bill and I have been married 28 years and when we first got together we would ride our bikes all around. Bill was more of an avid rider than me. One day he said lets ride our bikes to my Aunt Yvonne's house so we did, that was a long ride and when we got there she wasn't home. I just sprawled out on the front lawn to gather enough strength to ride back. Another time we were camping in San Diego at Campland along the bay and we decided to ride to my dad's house which was in Chula Vista again another long ride and if you have ever been in the San Diego area there are a lot of hills. Well he wasn't home either, so Bill said I will ride to the store on the corner and get a pad of paper and we will leave a note.  When he got back we noticed I had a flat tire, so Bill rode back to where we were camping to get the Van and come get me.  He swears to this day that I flatten the tire just so I wouldn't have to ride back. Well did I flatten it or not, that is the question that only I know. We have talked many times of riding our bikes around the United States and camp along the way. We have had this dream for the last 15 years. In 1996 I became ill with vasculitis which is an inflammation of the small blood vessels in the muscles. I was partially paralyzed and the doctors weren't sure I could recover. I was determined to get better and I did, I regained all my functions but lost muscle in my legs and back which restricted my activity. I still wanted to fulfill our dream so when we moved to Las Vegas in 1998 I told Bill we needed to put a date when we can make this trip, I will be the support vehicle and Bill would be the cyclist. Our target date was 2007. In April 2006 Bill had a mild heart attack which put a hold on things. He has worked very hard to recover and his cardiologist is so pleased with his recovery that he is all for us doing this trip. The time has come we are leaving January 5, 2008; we have been spending the year getting things ready. I will be driving a motor home and Bill will cycle. We plan to take the whole year and travel the perimeter visiting relatives along the way. You will find a page called Itinerary on our website which will give you our routes. You can get a hold of us either by e-mail or phone. Just one more thing, don't ever give up on your dreams. It’s never too late.
