Here it is July and we are halfway through it. We have made our second plaque burial in Madawaska Maine and now are going west toward our third burial place in the state of Washington. We have two of our grandsons, Desmond and Jensen, with us now for the next 12 days. We picked them up at the Buffalo airport on Thursday. On Friday Bill and Desmond kayaked about 12 miles on the Erie Canal, they said it was pretty rough going upstream and against the wind. They were really tired when Jensen and I picked them up. We have been so busy and half the time we were at state parks where our phones didn't work which put me behind on the updates to the website. I am trying to get caught up. Saturday, July 19th I received word that my sister passed away. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in April and didn't make it to 3 months. She went through a lot but she is in a better place now. I flew to Indianapolis on Tuesday for four days to be with my family. I am going to really miss her.
Today is July 31st. On July 29th my grandsons and I had a great time at Niagara Falls. We went on the Maid of the Mist Boat Tour where they give you a blue waterproof poncho and cruise to the base of the American Falls, then to the basin of the Horseshoe Falls. It's an unforgettable 30 minute adventure into the wet and wild. After that we went into the Cave of the Winds, where your face-to-face with the pounding waters of Niagara Falls. This time you get a yellow waterproof poncho and souvenir sandals and you travel deep into the gorge and journey under the Falls. Get soaked on the Hurricane Deck where you are mere feet from the thundering waters. You need to plan a night at the falls too to see the beautiful color lighting. On the Canadian side you can see better, so be sure you have your passport with you. There is so much to see there that we didn't have time to do everything. Here are some pictures of the falls.
